Will Mitchell graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences in 1998. He then earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law before joining the firm at its inception in 2006.
Mr. Mitchell was admitted to the Court of Appeals if Maryland in 2006 and, in 2007, he was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Mr. Mitchell has defended clients in nearly every county in Maryland from Allegany to Wicomico, as well as in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
At the state level, Mr. Mitchell has tried just about every type of case there is, from first-degree murder, to rape and sexual assault, to robbery, to excessive force cases defending police officers. At the federal level, his experience ranges from federal death penalty cases, to interstate drug conspiracies, to complex white-collar fraud investigations.
Mr. Mitchell is also Brennan McKenna Mitchell & Shay’s chief appellate counsel, and he has argued numerous times before the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland, Court of Appeals of Maryland, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, scoring victories at all three levels.
Mr. Mitchell currently focuses his practice in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland at Greenbelt and Baltimore as well as the counties of central Maryland, including Montgomery, Frederick, Carroll, Howard, and Washington counties.
Mr. Mitchell has represented attorneys before the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland as well as undergraduate, graduate, and law students in the University of Maryland system.
