Michael E. Lawlor brings wide criminal experience to Brennan, McKenna & Lawlor. Starting as an intern at the Maryland Public Defender’s Office during law school, Mike has been practicing exclusively criminal law for nearly 25 years. He has tried more than 50 cases, including death penalty cases, federal RICO cases, and homicides in both the State and in Federal courts. In addition to his trial practice, Mike has significant appellate and post-conviction practice. He has argued criminal appeals in the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and Fourth Circuit, and the Court of Appeals of Maryland. His post-conviction practice has seen positive results for 15 men who once had a life sentence but now have reduced sentences. In 10 of these cases, Mike was able to secure the release of the men/women who had been serving life sentences, all of whom are now home with their families.
